The only thing going off during Day 3 of the Billabong Pro is Donovan Frankenreiter. Frankenreiter is playing a concert to keep the stir-crazy surfers from going nuts. Three days of 1 foot surf has spoiled the first week of the Tahiti pro. I suppose even Teahupoo needs to sleep every now and then.
What does a UK band have in common with the "Lone Star State?" Austin. These New Puritans received bag loads of hype at this year’s South by South West (SXSW) media festival. SXSW just happens to be held each year in Austin, Texas.

An 18-year old inventor has recently taken a few tricks from the Segway scooter and built the "Uno." A two-wheeled uni-cycle looking motorcycle. As strange as it may sound…it looks even stranger.
I’m not sure how you could attach a surfboard to this sucker, but heck, if an 18 year old kid can invite something this complex, I’m sure someone can come up with a surfboard rack.

Tens of thousands of people have died and even more are homeless after the disastrous cyclone that hit Burma last week. People are without food and water and need some assistance. Google is spearheading a fundraising effort to support the victim’s of the cyclone.

Slinging Soup
Hurley is turning out to be the NASA of boarshort technologies. They recently released the Phantom line of shorts that uses the patented Phantom ultra-lightweight and super-stretch fabric. The fabric also does an incredible job repelling water - meaning they dry fast.
Ryan, over at Wind & Wave, was raving about the new Phantom shorts. He tells me that they are flying off the rack and there is nothing that compares to the quick drying fabric. However, cutting edge technology comes at a price, expect to pay near $80.00 for a pair of these bad boys.
Has anybody tried out a pair of Phantoms? Do you like them? Are they worth 80 dead presidents?
Quiksilver and the X-Games are throwing their lawyers at each other…over a letter of the alphabet! Quiksilver uses the X on some of their tee shirts and the X-Games thinks it is confusing the consumer and infringing on their trademark.
